Founder, owner, and operations manager. Juan has been an important part of Aguas Bravas since he co-founded it in 1992, with long-time friend and business partner, Jan Reiman.
Juan enjoys extreme sports of all types; rafting, zip lining, canyoneering, paragliding, and more. He is the grandson of the famous Costa Rican artist, Francisco Amighetti. When he is not overseeing every detail of the operation and the growth & planning of his company, Juan is a dedicated father to 1 beautiful young lady and a supportive help to his wife; a teacher in a local elementary school.
Juan loves the opportunity to teach national and international visitors how to experience unforgettable thrills in the natural wonders of Costa Rica, and how to do so in harmony with nature.
Our General Manager has been an important part of Aguas Bravas since 2010. Chantel moved from the USA to La Fortuna, San Carlos in 2003 and began working in tourism in 2008.
She handles all reservations and customized package creations in English, human resources, web presence, translating, assistant management, social and environmental programs, and more. She loves the opportunity to help people and to make the world a better place. Aguas Bravas gives her the platform for this work, as well as the opportunity to personally help each of our customers with professional service and packages to meet their individual needs.
When she is not working she is an active mother of 3; soccer mom, band mom, active parent in the school, church, and wherever her kids need her.

Ileana is a very creative person, and in her free time enjoys making crafts with cloth, paint, pottery, ceramics, and even with recycled materials. She loves participating in organized groups and leads the local Boy and Girl Scout Troop #149 in La Virgen, Sarapiqui, and works to get the whole family involved.
She is a certified naturalist guide with over 20 years of experience and annually participates in the national bird count in December. In addition she is a wife, and the mother of 3 beautiful young ladies.
Ileana enjoys her job because it allows her to interact with other people who love the beauty of nature as much as she does, and to have the opportunity to the wonders of Costa Rica with visitors from around the world.
Our friendly and easy going receptionist has been with us since June, 2013.
He is the voice on the other line when you call, and the smiling face that greets you on the day of your tour.
Jhersson loves the amazing nature of Sarapiqui; where he was born and raised, learning new things, and meeting new people. He also loves helping his dad at his Amazing Ant Tour, playing with his new little sister, as well as helping his mom with all of his younger brothers and sisters.
Jhersson says the best part of working at Aguas Bravas is having the opportunity to share with our customers about the customs and traditions of Costa Rica, and how to help care for the environment.

Our Rafting Head Guide is a Sarapiqui local and has been part of our team since early 2014, though he has been guiding the rivers ot the area and throughout the country since 2004.
Gustavo loves to spend his free time at home enjoying his family or playing soccer with friends. In addition to being a certified rafting guide, he is also a certified naturalist guide and loves to share his country and hometown with visitors, and is often hired as a private guide for groups of all sizes, for multi-day packages throughout Costa Rica.
His favorite part of the job is meeting and interacting with people from all around the world and learning about their way of life…and the fact that his office is a beautiful tropical river.
